I was really apprehensive to buy this since I do not know anything about cameras and it being pre-loved means I am not sure if I am getting something that doesn't actually work. So while going around the fair grounds I searched for reviews about the camera, surprisingly it turns out not to be a lightweight.
Got lucky last Saturday at a Car Boot Sale and picked up a second hand Olympus E-620 camera. One week on I am hooked and started this profile on 500px. I was really apprehensive to buy this since I do not know anything about cameras and it being pre-loved means I am not sure if I am getting something that doesn't actually work. So while going around the fair grounds I searched for reviews about the camera, surprisingly it turns out not to be a lightweight. Am I happy about the purchase? Of course I am. First time in my life that I bought something without buyers remorse. I am enjoying the rush of picking up a new skill. I am excited at what I will be able to do with this, as I will no longer be tempted to steal photos off the web...naughty. Specially that I learned that this camera costs around NZ$1,600 brand new, which I scored for a mere NZ$200.00.

Here are my thoughts about death penalty and how I believe its not going to solve the rising and increasingly violent crimes in the Philippines or elsewhere. I used to be for this but I realised death penalty is not an effective deterrent to heinous crime. I believe the key to solve incidence of crime it is to reduce corruption and improve living conditions. If we are able to achieve this the crime rate will go down for sure. Criminals are borne out of desperate living conditions, they are the result of oppression not the cause. Do you know how a phyton (or any constrictor for that matter) kills its prey? It uses time. As it coils around its prey to secure it, the phyton waits until the animals next gasp of air. Spending very little energy the snake tightens its deadly embrace each time its poor victim exhales. Breath after precious breath, slowly and steadily, the snake make very little room for the victims lung to take in oxygen, until it dies of suffocation. You see, the snake may be powerful but its strongest weapon is patience. Applying this lesson from nature, remember that success can be achieved in times. Not everything can be done in haste. Try nit to think if getting rich quick, because there is no such thing. Evrythings has its due course...just learn to be patient. If Filipinos back home think this current government will be able to correct the looting that has gone since perhaps when government started ages ago they will end up disappointed. They are the very same people that routinely steal peoples money. Power will switch hands, money will line up the pockets of those who rule, but still the people will remain poor. The only real solution is for people to wrest power from these vultures not by election but by a genuine gathering of all the oppressed...a revolution. My mom is a woman of short stature, had no university degree and was born out of poverty. Despite these odds stacked against her she was able to rise up to the challenge and turned Php50.00 capital to build her own little empire. She owned and ran five sari-sari stores, two tailoring shops, a copra farm, a boutique, a tailoring shop and at one point a gold mine in Paracale. No small feat if you consider the many that would just wallow in pity under put under the same predicament. This Mother's Day I pay tribute to my supermom, Rosita Jacob. Thanks Nanay for everything you have give us. We may have lost all the mini empire you have valiantly put up but lessons of your conquest are alive in my being and is my guiding light! I love you!

Full story at the Inquirer. How many times must a man fall for him to stay down and accept his limits? How many mistakes are needed for him to learn that these cannot be corrected? For such is life...a continuous struggle, an uncertain journey, but who quits on life? Certainly not I.
This has been the third reboot of my blog that I started on 2007. This is my third first post. A lot of factors stopped me from persisting with thus goal, but on the back of my mind a little whisper nags for me to continue. So, I have. For the third iteration. I hope get this right. I will not be too fuzzy, I will make this my ongoing journal where I can put my ideas, keep them for later and hopefully find an audience that will find my posts useful. So here it is...third time lucky! |
